I have decided to start writing a blog again to give my clients an insight into life at Verbena Floral Styling.
The Blog will cover recent real weddings and events alongside lots of floral inspiration and general ramblings about what I have been up to and what has been inspiring my work. The blog will be aimed at all my flower loving clients and not just future brides.
How is it April already? 2018 has flown past so quickly, here's a quick overview of what I have been up to.
Many of you may have noticed i've recently changed my business name. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while and 2018 seemed like the perfect time! Choosing a new name which reflected the direction in which my business was going was very difficult but with the help of a very talented friend we came up with Verbena and I knew it was the perfect name.
I have chosen the name Verbena due to the gorgeous scent of Lemon Verbena, scent is incredibly important in my designs and I love the idea of including scented flowers which will remind my client of their wedding day the second they smell them for many years after their wedding. Verbena bonariensis is also commonly found in English cottage gardens and it is here that many of my designs are inspired. I am totally in love with my new logo which was designed by the incredibly talented Nicky from Gooseberrymoon. I love the gorgeous botanical drawings (which Nicky hand draws herself!) and the simple but classic font.
WEDDING FAIR | Aldwick Court and Vinyard
At the start of the year I exhibited at Aldwick Court Farm and Vinyard wedding fair. Aldwick is a gorgeous venue in Redhill, North Somerset and is available to hire for weddings and events. The venue is a gorgeous airy barn with a very relaxed natural feel based at the award winning Aldwick Court vineyard (incredible for photos and I may have come home with a couple of bottles of their own Pinor Noir to try!).
For the wedding fair I chose a simple classic colour palette of ivory and green with a very natural seasonal feel. The designs included ivory coloured Anemones with striking black centres, viburnum and lots of gorgeous foliage.
PHOTOSHOOT | Venetia Norrington
At the start of February I took part in a photo shoot with the fabulous Venetia Norrington Photography. It was a gorgeous flower filled day and I cant wait to show you all the pictures. Here is a few of the stunning photos she took (you will spot more on my new website!) and I cant wait to show you the rest.
WORKSHOP| Terrarium Workshop at 19 Alexandra Road
On the 17th February I ran an Open Terraium Workshop at the totally gorgeous 19 Alexandra Road, Clevedon. During the workshop each of the participants made their own stunning Open Terrarium filled with gorgeous succulents and air plants. I am hoping to run another one of these workshops as they were so successful so keep an eye out for more info!
MOTHERS DAY | Pop up shop at Pale Blue, Hill Road, Clevedon
I don't usually sell bouquets for gifts anymore however there are certain dates in the year where I make an exception and Mothers Day is one of them! So on Saturday 10th March I was back outside the fabuous Pale Blue on Hill Road in Clevedon selling lots of gorgeous spring bouquets. It was so lovely to catch up with some of my original customers who used to buy flowers from me when I used to have a weekly Flower stall at the Hill Road Market.
There is something very special about Mothers Day, I especially love serving the dads who come along with their little ones to choose flowers for mummy and granny and the massive smile on the childrens faces when they go off down the road carrying a bouquet nearly as big as themselves! It always makes me smile when there is a difference in choice between the child and dad or even worse brother and sister, I keep well out of those disagreements!!!
I hope you've enjoyed hearing a little bit about a few of the things I've been up to recently. I'd love to know if there is anything in particular you would like to know more about, so please let me know if you think of anything!
